Inspiration for these earrings has been taken from one of our leech jars we have in our museum collection Ref: 350129.1. Containers like this were made to keep leeches for medical purposes between uses. The holes in the top allow air in so the leeches can breathe.
More info can be found through our main website by selecting the discovery tab and exploring the online collection through our data base.
These earrings have been commissioned bespoke to the Thackray Museum only, by the Artist Beth Crane.

The earrings measure approximately 1.5cm x 2.5cm and are made of wood with a laser burnt detail.
